Bratislava, 20 March 2026 – From Saturday, 28 March 2026, Dopravný podnik Bratislava (DPB) is changing the timetables of the city’s public transport system. M. R. Štefánik Airport will be more accessible; new stops are being set up in the rapidly growing Bory district, and spring will also bring a renewed season of #sMHDpozelenej recreational lines.

Line 61 is an important connection between the Main Railway Station, the wider centre, and M. R. Štefánik Airport. DPB is increasing the frequency of line 61 starting on Saturday, 28 March. On weekdays and weekends passengers will have more connections available, and line 61 will run more frequently. By doing this, DPB is responding to the confirmed growing trend in the number of passengers travelling to the airport. At the same time, emergency demand will be covered by backup buses prepared at the airport. The transport company continuously monitors the ridership of connections using automatic counters and is prepared to respond flexibly based on the current demand.
Additional changes from Saturday, 28 March 2026:
- Additional connections will be added on trolleybus lines 42, 71 and 72 during the morning rush hour on weekdays and at times of greatest passenger traffic heading from Dolné Hony to the centre. This reinforcement specifically covers the times of highest demand and will enable even more comfortable travel.
- The dynamically developing Bory district will see further improvements in public transport service. DPB is adjusting the routes of lines 23 and 30, which will start serving new stops. Line 23 will start serving the new stop Mateja Encingera on ulica Antona Moyša and, together with line 30, will also start serving the new stop T. P. Kolakoviča in front of the shopping centre.
- During weekends, the optimization of intervals on tram lines 3, 4 and 9 during selected times will take place with the goal of more efficient deployment of vehicles corresponding to the actual demand.
Spring, trips and public transport: the #sMHDpozelenej season is starting
Along with the changes to the timetables, DPB is also launching a new season of the popular #sMHDpozelenej (#gogreenwithMHD) recreational lines starting on Saturday, 28 March. The seasonal lines will carry tourists directly to the heart of the Mestské lesy (City Forests) and to ZOO Bratislava in comfortable low-floor buses, quickly, comfortably and without the stress of parking.
Says Martin Rybanský, Chairman of the Board of Directors of DPB:
“We realize that passengers also use public transport to travel for leisure activities, and that is why every spring we launch the popular #sMHDpozelenej project, which brings convenient connections to nature and to popular city destinations. Our ambition is to make public transport a natural choice not only during weekdays, but also for weekend trips, as well as a convenient alternative to individual transport."
Where can you get to #sMHDpozelenej?
- Bus line 43 will run to Kačín and Lesopark on weekends, i.e., two popular tourist destinations. Kačín is an ideal choice for people who prefer a quieter environment. The location offers several fire pits, barbecue pavilions and space for sports activities, such as football.
- Line 144 will connect Koliba with through weekends and holidays. This is one of the most visited recreational areas in the Mestské lesy and has undergone a significant transformation in the last two years. New areas for seating, modern and more energy-efficient lighting and an architecturally designed public transport stop have been added. Another new element is the pleasant seating on the slope of "Meňavka", which visitors will find beneath the buffets on the main promenade, and which offers more privacy and nice views.
- Line 154 will again this year connect Horáreň Krasňany with Pekná cesta, where passengers can change to tram no. 3. The Horáreň Krasňany area underwent a complete renovation last year. In the grounds are several fire pits, a playground, toilets, a buffet, a barbecue pavilion, ping-pong tables and a bee meadow which is suitable for picnics and sporting activities. The location is a popular destination and starting point – especially for families with children and cyclists. If you get off at the Muničné sklady stop, you can go to the nearby Hájovňa on Pekná cesta – this is a popular place for barbecues with its fire pits. It is especially magical in spring thanks to the cherry blossoms. All locations can also serve as a starting point for easy hiking, and there are many routes to choose from.
Says Jakub Mrva, Deputy Mayor for the Environment:
“The seasonal lines offer an easy way to get into nature without the stress of parking, the capacity of which is limited in the forest park and often overloaded during weekends. The lines also help keep the forest park accessible to everyone – conveniently and sustainably."
Another part of the seasonal campaign #sMHDpozelenej is the lines running to ZOO Bratislava, which is one of the most popular leisure destinations in the city. Passengers can use the convenient and frequent connections on lines 31, 32, 37 and 39, which provide easy access to the area without the need for individual transport.
Says Matej Dobšovič, director of ZOO Bratislava:
“It really pleases us that zoo visitors are using public transport more and more. Regular connections provide comfort and make a visit to the zoo easier, as you don’t have to find a parking space, which can be more difficult, especially on weekends. We would also like to thank the DPB for the zoo tram on line 4, which attracts visitors to "Kapybara-tislava", thus inviting people to the new residents of the zoo, two lovely capybaras."
The seasonal lines provide transport on comfortable low-floor buses. All three lines will start from interchange nodes or will connect to main lines and run at attractive intervals.
